Bob Allen here, as your team sits right now, where do you think you will finish in the pacific division?

Dead last...not enough horses in the stable to make a race of it nor enough assets to make any considerable trades for at least a couple of seasons.

Bob Allen again, with Rose being 27, will you be trying to move him for future assets?

Bob Allen again, with Rose being 27, will you be trying to move him for future assets? After the draft, we sat down with Jalen and explained what our plans were going forward (the auto-draft wasn't kind to the Lakers). While he was excited to be donning the historic Purple and Gold, he also appreciated that we didn't want him to waste his best years as a player trying to feed a mediocre groups of scorers. I've had talks with a few GM's about moving him but as yet, we've not been offered anything that approximates his value and thus haven't made a move yet. As I said in my trade block, the Lakers are going nowhere fast and I'd hate to see Jalen's best years wasted while he waits on the youngsters to mature.

so how long before you see some improvements and what kind of draft class you hoping for?

I'm hoping that by the 3rd or 4th sim that I'll have a better idea of how the Lakers compare to other teams and see how other GM's feel about their teams. From there I'll make the decision as to what type of trade partners to look for. As for the draft class, I'm hoping that the next class has at least 3 superstars-in-the-making since I'm sure we'll be picking no worse than 3rd.

rumor has it you tried acquiring iverson before they had a GM? Not a rumor, it was pretty well publicized that we were looking to upgrade at SG but the asking price for Iverson was too much for our tastes.

Shawn at 22 and with his skills is a major building block and why we made him the 1st pick during the draft. We were lucky that he was still available at that point. And yes, he's untouchable. We expect him to be a life-long Laker!

What is the player you think you are missing to win the west? We are blessed with so much young talent that it's hard to say what player would take us to the next level. If I were pressed on the question, I'd have to say adding a defensive SG is something we would be looking for. Adrian has done an admirable job and we've asked Marion to move from his natural SF position to try and make up for the lack we have there but we're still looking to upgrade, esp. after asking Penny to take over the PG duties.
