Hello every one an welcome to The Bob Allen Show. Today we have a very special guest in our studio. None other than the King, Barnard King that is. King was the Sixers 1st pick in this years draft. Taken at #2, Bernard is the player that the Sixers are hoping that will be the face of their franchise for many years to come.
Bob Allen
Allen- Welcome to the show Bernard.
King- Thanks, good to be here.
Allen- First off let me ask you how you feel about the Sixers picking you at #2.
King- Well to be honest with you i really thought that i was going to go with the 1st pick. But i am happy that the Sixers selected me at 2.
Should King have been the 1st pick
Allen- Had you had conversations with the Warriors about being picked first?
King- Nah that gm isnt around much now days an so no conversation with that team.
Allen- Oh, then what made you think you was going to be picked first?
King- Because i am the best player in this draft an i should have been picked first.
Allen- Really?
King- I said so.
Allen- Ok, well tell us what you can bring to the Sixers to help then.
King- Scoring, defense, rebounding, just a little of everything.
Allen- Well we know about the scoring an rebounding for sure. At Tennessee, for 3 years, you averaged 25.8 ppg an 13.2 rpg. Do you see yourself bringing that kind of production to the Sixers?
King- Maybe. I feel like i can score well in this league an depending on where the Sixers play me, SG or SF, i should be able to rebound well also.
Allen- I also would like to tell our fans that you were selected to the NCAA AP All-America team twice. 3rd team in 1975-1976 an 1st team in 1976-1977. Congrats on being selected for those 2 years.
King- Thanks again. Yeah it was nice to be noticed for what i was able to accomplish in those 2 years.
Allen- Also let me ask you about being on the cover of SI in your freshman year.
King- Yeah Ernie Grunfeld an myself were happy as heck being on the cover of a major sports magazine in our first year in college.
Allen- So have you meet any of the other players from the Sixers yet?
King- Not yet. I was told that there was only 6 players on this team an that it was going to be loaded up with a bunch of rookies from the draft.
Allen- So maybe another long year in Philly?
King- Who knows. One thing for sure it should be an exciting year for the fans with a bunch of young run an gun players coming onto the team from the draft.
Allen- Care to give us any predictions on how your year goes stats wise?
King- I will say about 22-25 ppg, 8 rpg, 2 apg. That would be just a small sample of what i will bring in the years to come.
Allen- I think the Sixers will take that.
King- Yeah they should, lol.
Allen- Well we are about out of time, do you have anything you would like to add to this conversation?
King- To the fans of the Sixers. Come out an watch your new young team an you will be rewarded with the hustle, desire an effort that we will put into bringing you a winning team.
Allen- Nice. Well we hope you will join us again during this next season as so we can get an update on things from you.
King- Yeah i will be seeing you again.
Allen- Thanks again Bernard. An tune in next time fans for another episode of The Bob Allen Show.
